Popular Bets for Lanka Premier League Betting
As with all cricket betting, Lanka Premier League betting markets are likely to be plentiful with much to keep punters entertained, such as these four options presented below.
To Win the Tournament
At the end of 15 days of play, a champion must be found, and if you think you know who that team might be, then this could very well be the market for you. There are only five teams to choose from – Colombo Kings, Dambulla Hawks, Galle Gladiators, Jaffna Stallions and Kandy Tuskers – so this could be an easier bet than you think.

To Win the Match
Betting on teams to win matches is a very good bet that features no complicated features. In a match of T20 cricket between two teams, all you need to do is pick the winner. Remember, games in the Lanka Premier League can be tied, but are likely to be uncommon. Making such a bet is very simple, and even more so when punters use dedicated betting apps to place it.
If you've got a strong hunch regarding the eventual victor of an upcoming match, we recommend none other than Novibet.
Highest Scoring Batsman
One popular bet that lasts throughout the tournament is to bet on the batsman who posts the most runs on the board over the 15 days of the competition. Typically, these will be the players at the top of the batting order, as selected by the coach. However, sometimes players further down the order can be the heroes too, and can even be considered for Fantasy Cricket selections.

Highest Scoring Bowler
In very much the same way as the bet above, punters can place wagers on the player that they believe will take the most wickets over the fortnight that the Lanka Premier League takes place. Remember, bowlers are credited with taking a wicket even if the batsman, at the other end of the crease, is caught by another member of the team. Of course, they can always spin the ball at the wicket themselves. Either way, they get the credit, and if they get more than anyone else, this bet’s a winner.
Our recommended betting site for the highest scoring bowler is Dafabet.
To Make a Century
A bet such as this one is designed to back a player, typically but not necessarily a batsman, to hit over 100 runs in his innings, known in the game as ‘making a century'. So, if you fancy someone stepping into bat to post a century, either because of their skill or the lack of skill of the opposing bowlers, then this bet might be worth considering.
As a new tournament, the Lanka Premier League has no past stats for us to consider when looking to make a bet such as this, so some extra homework or expert tips may be required. Highest Scoring Opening Partnership
Each team will have their opening partnership in a match, meaning that, as you've probably guessed, this bet requires punters to opt for the pair that will get the highest score between them. Again, the teams and players are all new to the Lanka Premier League, so how partnerships work together is something that we have yet to discover. That being said, these types of bets can be very interesting and a lot of fun, especially when live-streamed.

Tournament Structure for Lanka Premier League
The tournament will feature five teams, each one representing their local province or city. The play for the tournament will take place across 23 matches, all of which will be hosted between two venues: Kandy and Hambantota. Each team will then compete against each other team twice in games of Twenty20 cricket before the top four teams in the table contest the playoffs.
Kandy’s venue, the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, holds 35,000 people, while Hambantota’s Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, situated on the southern coast of the island, also holds 35,000. Each stadium will hold 12 and 11 games respectively over a period of 15 days.
History of the Lanka Premier League
The idea for the Lanka Premier League came about due to the popularity of other Twenty Twenty tournaments nearby, such as the Bangladesh Premier League and the India Premier League in particular. The league was pencilled in to begin in 2018 and run from 18 August to 10 September, but failed to meet that time frame due to a number of administrative issues within Sri Lanka Cricket, the body reponsible for organising the tournament.
The inaugural Lanka Premier League is now due to begin in the middle of November 2020. In June 2020, declared that as many as 70 foreign players had registered their interest to participate in the tournament. By August 2020, was officially announced as the new Vice President of Sri Lanka Cricket vice in order to run the new tournament.
The new development is not the first time that officials at the Sri Lanka Cricket had tried to run a . There was the launch of the Sri Lanka Premier League in 2011, which was badly organised and ultimately cancelled, to be replaced later on by the Inter-Provincial Twenty20 that same year. In 2012, won the only ever Inter-Provincial Twenty20, which itself was abandoned and replaced with Sri Lanka Cricket Super 4's Twenty20 Tournament.
2013’s tournament was also prematurely terminated after franchise owners failed to meet payment deadlines, while financing issues also spelled the end for the 2014 season which, although never taking place, was to be the last effort until the 2020 Lanka league, which was itself the subject of a two-year delay.

Lanka Premier League Betting FAQs
There are two venues that will be used for the Lanka Premier League: Kandy in the centre of the island, and Hambantota in the south.
This is a little difficult to answer, because it is a new tournament and has been the subject of many delays already; however, it is due to take place for the first time in November 2020.
The weather in Sri Lanka can be volatile, but November is considered to be the best time of year for visitors, so rain shouldn’t stop the play very often. We hope, so anyway.
Yes, it’s a very popular bet, and definitely a good one for Lanka Premier League betting.
